Why espresso coffee ?

Coffee: a magic word that calls forth the vision of huge and sunny plantations in America, where thousands of workers fill up bag after bag with precious beans.

However the origins of this widespread product are closer than people think. In fact, the African continent is the first producer of the treasured plant that took its name from the region of origin, Caffa, in Ethiopia.

There, for centuries, coffee plants have naturally grown up to 10 meters. The white and perfumed flowers give birth to cherry like red fruits, with the beans at their core.

A legend says that coffee was found by a shepherd named Kaldi. Actually without his goats, we might never have known the pleasure of a cup of coffee! Kaldi saw one day that his goats were more exited than usual, they were jumping merrily after having eaten leafs of a mysterious plant. He brought fruits of this plant to monks that were living in the area. They made a hot drink out of the fruit and found out that not only was the beverage exquisite, it was also helping them staying awake during their long nights of prayer.

Truth or myth, nobody really knows. It is a fact however that the antique name of coffee was the Arabic word "Qahwà", which means stimulating beverage. It then became "Qahvè" in Turkish, and finally "caffea" or "coffea", recalling the region of its origin.

Coffee drinking rapidly spread in the Arabic nations. After having tasted it during their travels, the Venetian and Genovese explorers and merchants brought it to Europe together with silk or spices.

Soon establishments that served the aromatic beverage opened all over Europe. It was many years later that coffee reached America where it started to be cultivated in huge plantations.

Each country has its own way to prepare blends. For a long time, when the word "Bar" was not used, it was at the "Café" that people could meet and drink the strong and dark beverage; maybe the same coffee we offer you today in a version expertly blended and personally tested.

How about the effects of coffee? Are they positive or negative? It depends on who you ask. Experts simultaneously approve and disapprove based on who is drinking it, how much, and under what conditions. But let's leave this to specialists, to doctors, to researchers.

Coffee is a 100% natural beverage. The customary Italian coffee drink, espresso, is prepared with water at a temperature of about 90°C that filters a layer of thin grounded roasted coffee under pressure. It contains less caffeine but more essential aroma than other coffee preparations.

What we can say for sure is that coffee's magnetic power is Ideal. It's perfect for the machine at the coffee shop or the coffee maker at home. At the coffee shop in just a few seconds it can gives us that irresistible pleasure we know and love.

The coffee maker at home gives us a special feeling as well: we fill it, turn it on, and wait. Finally when the coffee foams and spouts, black and dense, we are caught by the aroma containing the full-bodied smell coming all the way from those huge plantations. The scent of cultivations at the riverside, the delicate perfume released by fields on the hills, we become part of the union of well balanced bittersweet tastes, of stimulating feelings, that make the coffee Ideal, the Ideal of coffees.
